The West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists now has two block party trailers that are available for use by churches, associations, and missions cooperating with the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists. The Southern Trailer is based out of Scott Depot and the Northern Trailer is based out of Morgantown. The Trailers are for the primary purpose of community evangelism but, based on availability, may be scheduled for other church-related outreach events. Download the Block Party Brochure for more information. SCHEDULING THE Trailers The trailers may be scheduled for a maximum of nine days by a church, mission or association. All requests for scheduling must be made on the form, Block Party Trailer Application, found below, and must be completed in full and returned with check payable to the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists to confirm dates. You may check the following calendars to get an idea of what dates are available for each of the block party trailers, but know that there may be applications being currently processed that, until confirmed, do not appear on the calendar. Block Party Trailer North Calendar All requested dates will be confirmed on a “first come-first served” basis. Applications and payment must be received 30 days prior to the event. Once you have completed the application, please send it and applicable fees to: WVCSB Once the application has been received and evaluated you will hear from Florence Ann Ballard via email and postal mail. If you have any questions concerning scheduling, you may contact Florence Ballard at 1 (800) 411-5758. Contents of Trailers The trailers are both equipped in similar fashion and include a popcorn machine, a sno-cone machine, a cotton candy machine, crock pots for serving nacho cheese and chips, a propane cooker with pot, carnival style games, an inflatable bounce house, a portable generator, tables, chairs, registration tents and enough consumable products to serve 300 people. It also includes a portable sound system, as well as extension cords, serving utensils and more. For more information concerning the trailers, you will find the downloadable block party trailer manual in pdf format below. COST While trailers are expensive to purchase and maintain, the goal of the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists’ Evangelism Ministry is to offer the trailer as economically as possible. Therefore, a user fee is charged each time the trailer is used. The total fee is $350, which include a $200 supply fee and a $150 maintenance fee. The fee is the same whether used one day or 9 days. This fee covers the costs of maintenance for the trailers and supplies for up to 300 participants for each concession. Not included in this fee is travel expense. For both the Northern and the Southern Trailers, it is the responsibility of the church, mission or association to arrange for transportation. Please be aware that the trailer weighs nearly 7000 pounds and should only be hauled by a vehicle that can carry such a load. RESPONSIBILITY The user of the trailer assumes full responsibility for the trailer while on their site. The cost of any repairs is the sole responsibility of the church or association using the Block Party Trailer. Please report all damages immediately to the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists Evangelism Ministry. The WVCSB assumes no liability for injuries or damage due to the use of the trailer. All civil and utility permits are the sole responsibility of the trailer user. It is suggested that the user have a minimum of 8 strong people present to assist in setting up the trailer contents properly. INSURANCE The user is required to have liability insurance (a minimum $300,000 bodily injury and $50,000 property damage) for your protection during the use of the trailer. Contact your insurance company to assist you with this matter. Block Party Application Form [PDF] |
